Rowe Jukebox Updates and Modifications

The following updates, modifications, patches, fixes, etc. have been compiled over the years from various operators, Rowe and myself. We own over 80 Rowe CD jukeboxes, some of them over 15 years old and still running great.

Over the years Rowe has made a number of changes, particularly different models of CD players, as older models became obsolete.  Philips CDM3, CDM4, CDM12, CD PRO and CD PRO II are the various players Rowe used. We still have quite a number of machines still using the original CDM3 players.

Until recently, Rowe had changed the basic mechanical and electronic design of their mechanisms very little over the last 15+ years. There are a few changes, mods etc. listed below that should be done on all of these models.

Power Supply
Although the original CD100 power supply has served us well for many years, Rowe has available a newer style supply that many operators recommend over the original. Personally, I don't like this new supply. It may function more efficiently and filter better, but I have had far more failures with the newer supply than the original.

Original supply modifications:
CR511 should be a 9.2V zener diode
R509 should be 1k resistor
R511 should be 470 ohm resistor

I also replace all electrolytic capacitors on these supplies. You will require:
3 - 2.2uF 50V radial electrolytic capacitors
1 - 6800uF 50V radial electrolytic capacitor
(original is a 35V - I believe the higher voltage cap is better)
1 - 4700uF 80V radial electrolytic capacitor
(original is a 50V - I believe the higher voltage cap is better)

Resolder all square pinned header connectors. Replacing them would be even better. These are available from Molex.

Central Computer
Current version of CCC software is version 4.3
